Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can run as many tests as you need. But “unlimited” comes with a Fair Use Policy to make sure the platform stays reliable for everyone.

While no hard caps are enforced, GTmetrix reserves the right to restrict or suspend accounts where usage is deemed excessive, abusive, or outside the intended purpose of performance monitoring.

Examples of misuse include (but are not limited to):

  • Running continuous automated scripts to generate artificial load
  • Performing bulk stress tests or scraping activity
  • Consistently generating volumes far above normal customer usage levels

We may adjust or suspend access if such activity threatens platform stability or negatively impacts other users.

Each URL paired with Analysis Options (location, device, connection speed, etc.) having monitoring enabled (hourly, daily, etc.) would consume one monitored slot.

For example, monitoring the following:

  • https://example.com (Seattle, USA, Chrome, Unthrottled)
  • https://example.com (San Antonio, USA, Simulated iPhone 16 Pro, LTE)
  • https://example.com (London, UK, Chrome, Broadband Fast)
  • https://anotherdomain.com (San Antonio, USA, Chrome, Broadband Fast)

Would require 4 monitored slots.

Take an inventory of the number of URLs and scenarios you intend to monitor, and select a PRO plan that suits your needs.

Need more monitored slots than our plans offer? Contact us to discuss a Custom Enterprise plan.

The number of Monitored Slots needed will depend on your visitors and overall performance goals.

Small websites may only need to monitor a few pages, whereas larger websites may have more key pages that users visit frequently, are primary entry points, or part of a campaign.

Read our article on determining how many monitored slots you may need.

How often GTmetrix automatically tests your pages depends on how critical the performance of your website is to you and/or your visitors.

Whether performance is mission critical, or if you only need to keep an eye on performance from time to time, there’s a frequency that makes sense for you.

Read our article on how to determine a monitoring frequency.

A test run from within your GTmetrix Dashboard, or re-tests done from a GTmetrix Report are considered On-Demand tests.

After you reach your On-Demand test limit, you’ll have to wait for your test limit to reset, or upgrade for more tests. You can see the next refill date on your Account page.

Each PRO plan has a number of On-Demand tests allocated to it, so be sure to select a plan that would match the number of On-Demand tests you expect to be doing.

Reports generated from monitoring or API/MCP are not considered On-Demand tests and will not deduct from your amount.

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that gives AI models a direct line to external data and developer tools.

The GTmetrix MCP server uses this standard to bring our powerful web performance engine straight into your AI development tools and LLM clients.

Now your AI assistant can natively run tests, audit Core Web Vitals, and fetch real-time performance insights right inside your terminal or workspace chat.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, and PayPal.

We can also accept Bank/Wire Transfers and Purchase Orders, but as we manually process these payments, we require a minimum spend commitment and a yearly term commitment. Please contact us to learn more.
