We’ve made some major changes to GTmetrix – read on for details on this release.
As previously announced and planned for December 1, 2023, we have now implemented important changes to GTmetrix:
- Price increase for all GTmetrix PRO plans
- Introducing the new Micro plan ($5/mo)
- Introducing the new Micro plan ($5/mo)
- Changes to Guest/Basic usage
- Login required to generate report
- New Basic account limits
In this post, we elaborate on these changes, along with other changes and updates we’ve brought to GTmetrix.
Price Increase for GTmetrix PRO Plans
As previously announced, we’ve now enacted the price increase for all GTmetrix PRO plans, including Custom and Legacy PRO plans.
We’ve also increased the On-Demand Test Limits for Solo, Starter, and Growth plans.
As always, you can save 15% off the month-to-month cost by subscribing to a Yearly term.
For existing PRO plan users, the new pricing will be applied to their subscription at their next renewal. Specifically:
- If you are on a Monthly plan, you should see the new pricing take effect on your next renewal (e.g., if your plan renews on the 15th of each month, your new pricing will take effect on Dec 15, 2023).
- If you are on a Yearly plan, you should see the new pricing take effect on your next annual renewal (e.g., if your plan renews on Feb 24th each year, your new pricing will take effect on February 24, 2024).
Visit your Account page to learn when your next renewal is.
Note that existing Custom and Legacy PRO plan users should have received an email from us, mentioning your new plan pricing.

Changes to Guest/Basic usage
This release also sees changes to Guest and Basic usage of GTmetrix.
You can read our previous announcement to learn more about why we are enacting these changes.
Read on for more details regarding the changes:
All Testing Now Requires Login
Guest/Non-logged in testing is no longer offered. Users will now need to be logged-in from a validated e-mail address to generate reports.
If you launch a test from our home page (i.e., without logging in), GTmetrix will start analyzing your page – however, once the analysis is complete, you will be prompted to create an account or login to your existing account to view the report.
If you are creating a new account, you will need to validate your email first before you can log into GTmetrix.
Once this is done, the report will be added to your GTmetrix Dashboard and you can view the report and continue testing.
Changes to Basic Account Limits
We’ve also made changes to the Basic (Free) Account. These include:
- 5 On-Demand Tests (Non-renewing)
- 25 Trial API Credits at sign up
- 5 Daily API Credits (refilled every day) after the trial credits are used up
- 1 Week Data Retention
Once you’ve hit your test limits, consider upgrading to one of our PRO plans to continue testing.
With our new Micro plan, we now offer plans as low as $5/month for your performance testing needs.
Waterfall Chart Enhancement and Fixes
We’ve also tweaked and fixed a few issues on our Waterfall Chart:
- Initiator Column Added
- Fixed Long/Failed Third-Party Requests
- We patched an issue that was causing long/failed requests to be displayed and redirects to be merged.
- Note that these issues were cosmetic in nature and had no effect on your page’s actual performance.
