Upcoming GTmetrix Test Server Changes

We’re making some important changes to our global test servers – Read on to see how this impacts you.

Overview

As part of GTmetrix’s transition to WP Media, we are migrating our test server infrastructure to WP Media’s organization.

This will naturally result in some changes with regards to our global testing configuration, with a targeted switchover date taking place on May 7, 2025.

Test Server IP Changes

Our test server IP addresses for the GTmetrix test locations around the world will change.

If you have firewall rules, allowlists, or integrations that rely on GTmetrix test server IPs, please ensure you add our new IPs before May 7, 2025 to avoid disruptions.

You can find a complete list of our Test Server Location details, including XML, JSON formats of IP addresses on our Locations page.

Below is a list of the updated test server IP addresses:

We will inform you through the GTmetrix Dashboard once the new IPs are active so that you can remove the old IPs from your firewall rules/allowlists.

Saying Goodbye to Our Vancouver Test Servers

GTmetrix was founded in Vancouver, Canada back in 2010, and over the years, we invested in local data centres and resources to support our platform’s growth and capacity. Vancouver’s infrastructure played a key role in supporting our test server capacity, which ensured reliable performance for users.

Now that we are part of WP Media, we are adopting a fully cloud-based infrastructure for our test servers, which means transitioning away from our Vancouver-based on-premise data centre infrastructure.

As a result, our Vancouver test location will be replaced by Quincy, USA — the closest available Azure-provided node.

For simplicity, we will label Quincy as “Seattle” in our front-end UI to make it easier to recognize, as the latency difference between Quincy and Seattle is negligible (less than 5ms).

Vancouver, Seattle, and Quincy are located very close geographically and represent negligible differences in latency.

All monitored/API jobs set in Vancouver, Canada will be eventually switched to Seattle, USA – Date will be determined later.

In terms of performance, we do not anticipate any tangible differences between our previous Vancouver test location and the new Quincy/Seattle location.

We will closely monitor this transition and will make necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth transition for our users, and more information will be available on the switchover as we approach the date.

Android/Galaxy Nexus Device Deprecated

Our physical Android/Galaxy Nexus device was located in our on-premise Vancouver data centre. Saying goodbye to Vancouver also means saying goodbye to this device which has served us valiantly for over 12 years(!).

We encourage all those who require mobile testing to use our Simulated Device feature.
